20 months ago, I was diagnosed with Diabetes Type I. My
blood sugar level was between 288 and 340 mg/dl (Normal: 70-110 mg/dl). My
HbA1c was 12.9 %. (Normal: 5.0 – 6.5 %). It was the loss of fitness for flying
and the end of my dream to fly. The doctor said: „You will end up on Insulin.“
16 months ago, I started to follow Dr. Schnitzer’s recommendations. My doctor
didn’t support me much: „... but you can try it.“ Already 4 weeks later, the
blood sugar level was between 75 and 177 mg/dl. 1 year later, it was between 83
and 244 mg/dl, the HbA1c was 6.4 %. Now, 16 months following about 80 % of Dr.
Schnitzer’s recommendations, my blood sugar level is between 97 and 234 mg/dl,
my HbA1c is 6,5 %. When having checkup for pilot’s medical, the aviation
physician stated: „Actually you are not diabetic.“ Meanwhile I finished
successfully my training as a private pilot.
